Disable Touch Screen on Windows 8.1
There are multiple ways to disable touch screen in Windows 8.1, but disabling touch screen through Device Manager is the most appropriate and simple task. Follow the steps to disable touchscreen:
Step (1): First of all, open the Control Panel and search for “device manager“.
Step (2): From the search result, click on “Device Manager” option.
Step (3): On the Device Manager window, expand “Human Interface Devices” option to get the list of all options that are available under human interface devices setting.
Step (4): From the options available under Human Interface Devices, find “HID-Compliant Touch Screen” option.
Step (5): After that, right click on “HID-Compliant Touch Screen” option and select Disable.
Important note: On some touch screen computers, you will find few “HID-compliant device” options in the place of “HID-Compliant Touch Screen”. In this condition, disable each “HID-compliant device” option one by one until one works.
Step (6): Now close the Device Manager window. That’s it!

Enable Touch Screen on Windows 8.1

Thanks for the this post. This works great until I re-boot the computer and then the touch screen becomes enabled again. This is important as I’ve cracked my screen a bit and the touchscreen goes crazy if it’s enabled. Once disabled, the computer works fine. Thoughts?
